Amnesia Bilbo is a sativa-leaning take on the iconic Amnesia Haze, known for an intense haze flavor and aroma and a very strong head high that isn't for beginners. It grows big, resin-coated plants, flowers in 75 to 85 days indoors and can yield up to 550 g per plant inside or up to 1,000 g outdoors. (The strain name links to our seed shop in Argentina.)

Amnesia Bilbo seeds produce big plants with big buds, covered in a thick coat of resin. You can grow it indoors, outdoors or in a greenhouse. Indoor flowering takes 75 to 85 days, with yields of up to 550 grams (about 19 oz) per plant. Outdoors, harvest wraps up in late October in the Northern Hemisphere (late April in the Southern Hemisphere), with up to 1,000 grams (about 2.2 lb) per plant.

The effect is what made Amnesia Bilbo famous. Its psychoactive punch is exceptionally strong, which makes it a bad fit for beginners. The "amnesia" in the name comes from its signature forgetful high, which can catch even seasoned smokers off guard.

Amnesia Bilbo has its roots in Amnesia Haze, which in turn descends from the original Haze that came out of California in the '70s thanks to two experimenting brothers. Amnesia Haze genetics are the backbone of Amnesia Bilbo, a reminder of its prestigious lineage and its influence on cannabis culture.

People often argue about whether Amnesia Haze is a sativa or an indica, but its powerful effect puts it squarely in sativa territory. Amnesia Bilbo stays true to those sativa genetics.

All in all, Amnesia Bilbo is an intriguing, potent spin on Amnesia Haze. Its strength, its intense flavor and aroma and its influential lineage make it an exciting pick for connoisseurs. Its psychoactive power does demand caution and respect, though. Dig into Amnesia Bilbo and you'll find a strain that honors its roots and an ever-evolving cannabis culture.

Where Haze strains come from

The story of Haze strains starts in the '60s and '70s on the US West Coast. Legend has it the first Haze was created by two growers in Santa Cruz, California, the legendary "Haze Brothers." An article in the alternative-medicine magazine Treating Yourself says the brothers never actually set out to create a particular strain; it happened by pure chance when they crossed some seeds they had on hand. What came out was one of the most famous, celebrated strains on the market.

What Haze strains are known for

Haze strains are famous for their high THC and their sativa dominance, sometimes pure sativa. Their effects are energetic and cerebral, great for creative work.

The fruity, sweet notes in their aroma make them a favorite with Haze lovers. Their genetic roots run from Mexican, Indian and Thai sativas to well-known landraces like Acapulco Gold and Colombian Gold. Some patients use them for their reported anti-inflammatory and stress-relieving qualities.

Types of Haze: which are the best known?

Purple Haze:

Its flowers stand out for their fluffy leaves and deep purple color. Grown indoors, it can take 16 to 20 weeks to reach its full potential. In bloom, it gives off a bouquet of earthy, sweet aromas.

Users say Purple Haze makes you feel energized and awake and gives you a nice lift. It also has a sweet flavor with citrus hints and a strong strawberry note.

Super Lemon Haze:

Tart and lemony, it's a refreshing citrus treat. This tasty Lemon Haze comes from a cross of Lemon Skunk and an old-school Haze.

Under a 12/12 light schedule, Super Lemon Haze usually takes 10 weeks to be ready for harvest. ScrOG (a screen of green, a trellis net that spreads the canopy) is recommended for maximum yield.

  • Lemon Haze traits:

Lemon Haze's tasty, potent buds can top 20% THC. It has a long-lasting, creative head high and long, resinous colas that give it serious commercial potential.

Amnesia Haze:

Amnesia Haze is famous for its powerful effect, its top-shelf flavor and its impressive yields. It doesn't take much to get you seriously high, thanks to THC levels around 22%.

Its massive trichome production makes Amnesia Haze great for hash and other concentrates. When you heat and press it, you can clearly see its clear, sticky, honey-colored resin with around 22% THC, and the aroma is a revelation. The high isn't just cerebral, it's also deeply relaxing, which makes it a well-balanced strain.

LeBron Haze:

This feminized strain belongs to the Haze family, but it's a cross of Elite Haze x Lemon Thai.

It has a very short indoor flowering period, needing just 55 to 60 days to finish. Its buds are fat and meaty, almost completely covered in resin, with excellent flower production.

  • LeBron Haze traits:

Grown outdoors, it shows it's really an 85% sativa: its vigorous vegetative growth can easily push it past 2.5 to 3 m (8 to 10 ft).

LeBron Haze delivers a full-on sativa high with strong psychoactivity, a good dose of euphoria and creativity, and that hazy head you'd expect from a proper Haze. It's not really one for beginners, but it's a great strain for staying active and doing things that don't need much focus.

More things to know about Haze strains

Growers know that working with a Haze takes time and a lot of attention, which is why the strain nearly went extinct in the '80s. Flowering tends to be very long, up to 16 weeks to finish. These demanding, high-maintenance plants give incredible results with good care.  Haze strains aren't a grower favorite because they can be pretty tough to look after and need close attention to turn out well. That makes them a less ideal choice for beginners (or impatient growers).

Over time, and once Haze made it to Europe, the strain's purity got lost and diluted, so finding 100% pure Haze is anything but easy. But genetics and growers' dedication produced hybrids that still carry some of that Haze magic. There are tons of Haze strains worth trying. We've covered a few here, but there are plenty more on the market. You just have to track them down.
