Cannabis Desserts: Weed Cookies, Chocolate Cake and Pot Brownies
Three sweet weed recipes that all start from the same stick of cannabutter.
The easiest cannabis desserts to make at home are cookies, a chocolate cake and pot brownies, and all three run on the same engine: cannabutter (butter infused with weed). Make the butter once, and you can bake whichever one you're craving. Below you'll find all three recipes, step by step.
Cold weather brings cravings, and sweets always win. So it's no surprise that plenty of regular smokers want to merge two of life's great pleasures and turn dessert into a proper cannabis treat, one that delivers more than just flavor.
That's why today we're bringing you a trio of weed recipes that'll blow your mind: cannabis cookies, a loaded chocolate cake and the classic pot brownie.
How do you make weed cookies?
This is a recipe built for sharing with a crowd: these amounts make about 40 cookies, give or take depending on how big you make each one.
Ingredients for cannabis cookies
- 500 ml (about 2 cups) water
- 130 g (about 1/2 cup + 1 tbsp) cannabutter
- 250 g (about 2 cups) all-purpose flour (in Argentina, extra-fine 0000 flour)
- 2 eggs
- Flavoring of your choice
- 120 g (about 1/2 cup + 2 tbsp) sugar
What you'll need:
- Saucepan
- Spatula
- Strainer
- Mixing bowl
- Whisk
- Rolling pin
- Plastic wrap
- Parchment paper
- Kitchen scale
Before you start on these cannabis cookies, you'll need cannabutter, so here's our recipe for weed butter. Steps 1 through 4 below are the butter itself: if you already have some made, skip straight to step 5. Now let's get baking.
Weed cookies: step by step
- Step 1: Bring the water to a boil with the butter and keep it over medium heat until the butter melts.
- Step 2: Once it's melted, add your ground cannabis and stir over low heat for 30 minutes without letting it boil, so it releases all its cannabinoids.
- Step 3: When time's up, pour it through a strainer to catch the plant matter and collect the melted butter in a suitable container.
- Step 4: Put the butter in the fridge for at least 6 hours. Then take it out and use a spoon to remove the water from the surface.
- Step 5: Let the butter come to room temperature so it's easier to work with, then add the sugar and eggs and mix well. Start adding the flour while you keep stirring.
- Step 6: Once the mix is smooth, add whatever flavoring you like best.
- Step 7: When the dough is just right, cover it with plastic wrap and let it rest in the fridge for 20 minutes.
- Step 8: Preheat the oven to 160 °C (320 °F).
- Step 9: Flour your work surface and roll out the dough with the rolling pin, then shape the cookies however you like. Roll little balls, make thumbprint cookies with a dab of quince paste or guava jam in the middle, or go for simple tea cookies. You can also add chocolate chips, almonds or other nuts.
- Step 10: Arrange them on a baking sheet and bake for 15 minutes at 160 °C (320 °F).

Cannabis chocolate cake
Hosting, or just want to surprise friends or family? This one's for you: a weed-infused chocolate cake.
Ingredients for a weed chocolate cake
- Half a stick of cannabutter.
- 100 g (1/2 cup) brown sugar
- 225 g (about 1 cup + 2 tbsp) white sugar
- 280 g (about 2 1/4 cups) flour
- 2 eggs
- 113 g (4 oz) chocolate
- 1/2 tbsp salt
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 packet of baking powder

How to make cannabis chocolate cake, step by step
- First, break down all the weed you're using with a grinder. Grind it as fine as you can so it's less noticeable when you eat the cake.
- Once it's ground, combine the butter and the cannabis in a saucepan over low heat for one to two hours, stirring every 15 to 20 minutes.
- When that mixture is ready, pour it into a bowl and add the eggs and flour. Then gradually work in the baking powder and salt, plus the chocolate, which you should have melted beforehand in a double boiler or the microwave.
- Preheat the oven to 180 °C (350 °F) for 10 minutes and pour the batter into a cake pan.
- Once everything's ready, bake for 45 to 50 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
How do you make pot brownies?
The king of cannabis desserts has finally arrived. Nothing beats a fudgy brownie, and if it's made with cannabutter, even better. This one's quick and easy.

Pot brownie ingredients
- 100 g (about 7 tbsp) cannabutter (get the recipe here)
- 150 g (about 5 oz) chocolate
- 2 eggs
- 1 cup sugar
- 100 g (about 3/4 cup) flour
Into walnuts? Throw some in!
If you'd rather skip butter, there's another option: cannabis-infused coconut oil.
Pot brownies, step by step
- First, turn the oven on to its lowest setting. Butter and flour the pan you'll pour the batter into.
- Put the cannabutter and chopped chocolate in a skillet over reeeeally low heat. Cover it for about 5 minutes and don't stir yet! Take it off the heat and mix it all together.
- In a separate bowl, beat the two eggs with the sugar until pale.
- Add the melted chocolate and cannabutter and beat until combined. If you're adding walnuts, now's the time.
- Finally, sift in the flour in two batches and fold everything together. Beat it hard and pour it into the pan.
- Bake at 220 °C (430 °F) for about 20 minutes.
Once it's done, pull out your delicious weed brownie and let it cool. Then unmold it and serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or melted white chocolate drizzled on top.
