Cannabis skincare: why is CBD the most wanted ingredient?
CBD has become a skincare favorite because its anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties may calm redness, swelling and irritation, the root of many skin problems from acne to rosacea. Cannabis is taking over beauty products and is ready to take your skincare routine up a notch, because a plant best known for easing stress and pain (among many other things) also turns out to be surprisingly good at topical skin care. Inflammation is behind many skin problems, from acne to rosacea. Thanks to the anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties of cannabinoids, using them may reduce swelling and even pain. Studies suggest CBD may also be useful against acne and could even give skin a more youthful look, thanks to its ability to fight inflammation.
CBD acts on a special set of receptors in the skin called TRPV1 receptors, which are involved in sensations of heat, itching and pain. That may explain why it feels so soothing on the skin. And just like other natural oils used in skincare, hemp oil's natural fatty acids and antioxidants make it a good option for people with dry skin and eczema.
