Homemade cannabis chocolate

How do you make cannabis chocolate?

To make weed chocolate, melt 250 g (about 9 oz) of milk chocolate in a double boiler, stir in 5 g of decarbed cannabis flower ground to a fine powder, keep it warm for about 30 minutes, then pour it into molds and chill. That's it: two heavyweights, one treat. Chocolate's great, cannabis is great, and together they're even better.

Ingredients for weed chocolate:
Milk chocolate, 250 g (about 9 oz)
Cannabis (decarbed), 5 g of dried flower

To decarb the cannabis, break the dried flower into small pieces, spread them evenly on a baking sheet and bake in an oven preheated to 115 °C (240 °F) for 25 to 30 minutes.

Then, and this part matters, grind it into a fine powder.

Instructions:

Melt the chocolate in a double boiler. Once it's fully melted and liquid, add the decarbed cannabis ground into powder. Mix really well. Keep it warm for at least 30 minutes, stirring and watching the temperature so it doesn't burn.

Pour the chocolate into molds and pop them in the fridge. Done!

Why do chocolate and cannabis go so well together?

Chocolate and cannabis make a great pair for a few reasons:

  1. Flavor and texture: Chocolate's rich, creamy flavor and texture can complement the earthy, sweet and bitter notes of cannabis. Together they make for a unique, enjoyable taste.
  2. A possibly stronger high: Some cannabis users claim chocolate boosts the effects of cannabis, especially THC's psychoactive effects. The idea is that chocolate contains small amounts of anandamide, a compound similar to the endocannabinoids your body makes naturally. It's thought these compounds might interact with cannabinoid receptors in the brain and amplify the high, though the evidence is thin.
  3. Kitchen versatility: Chocolate works in tons of cannabis recipes, like brownies, cookies, truffles and other baked goods. It's easy to incorporate, which makes it a popular pick for people who want to consume cannabis in a tasty, discreet way.
  4. Palatability: Chocolate's sweetness and smooth texture help mask the bitter or earthy taste of cannabis, which makes it easier to enjoy for people who aren't fans of weed's natural flavor.

What does weed chocolate feel like?

Some possible effects of weed chocolate include:

  1. Psychoactive effects: Cannabis contains psychoactive compounds like delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). Once activated through decarboxylation and mixed into chocolate, THC turns it into an edible that gets you high.
  2. Relaxation: Cannabis can also be relaxing and sedating, so you may feel calm and chilled out after eating weed chocolate.
  3. Appetite boost: Cannabis is famous for stimulating appetite, aka the munchies. Weed chocolate could make you hungrier.
  4. Variable strength and duration: How weed chocolate hits depends on how much cannabis went into it and how potent it was, as well as each person's sensitivity and tolerance.

How do you decarb cannabis?

Decarboxylation is the key step that activates psychoactive compounds like THC in the cannabis plant. Here are some general steps that can help:

  1. Preheat the oven: Set it to between 100-120 °C (220-250 °F).
  2. Prep the cannabis: Grind or finely chop the cannabis you want to decarb.
  3. Spread it on a baking sheet: Lay the cannabis out in a thin, even layer.
  4. Bake it: Put the tray in the preheated oven and bake for about 30-45 minutes. The time can vary with the amount and potency of your cannabis.
  5. Keep an eye on it: Watch the cannabis closely so it doesn't burn. Shake or move the tray now and then so it decarbs evenly.
  6. Cool and use: Once it's decarbed, let it cool, then use it in your cannabis chocolate or other recipes.

Keep in mind that the effects of weed chocolate vary with the dose, the potency of your cannabis and your personal tolerance. It can also come with side effects like drowsiness, mood changes and shifts in coordination and focus. If you plan to eat weed chocolate, do it carefully, start with a low dose, and follow the laws and regulations where you live.
