Super Lemon Haze Strain: Effects, Flavor and Haze Family Tree

The two-time Cannabis Cup winner from Green House Seeds: a zesty, sativa-leaning hybrid with a clear head high and a body buzz to match.

BY CosechaLibre Editorial4 MIN READ
Super Lemon Haze is a sativa-dominant cannabis strain with a sharp, sweet-and-sour lemon flavor and an energetic, clear-headed high. That high is why it's such a crowd favorite. Green House Seeds bred it by crossing Lemon Skunk with Super Silver Haze, and it went on to win the Cannabis Cup twice. With THC between 17 and 22%, SLH is pure energy in a jar. Smoke it and you get a clear, inspired head high with upbeat, stimulating energy. Everything about this strain is lively, sharp and bold. That said, SLH is technically still a hybrid, which means there's some indica in the mix. The effects are mostly cerebral, but it also brings a calming body buzz. In fact, plenty of smokers say they feel this one in the body first. The smoke tastes like sweet, tart lemon. SLH produces greenish-brown buds under a thick coat of sticky trichomes that any smoker will want to sample. Thanks to its mix of mental euphoria and physical relaxation, a lot of people call it an aphrodisiac strain. Go overboard, though, and you might get the opposite effect. Its focus-boosting, creative effects make it popular with patients dealing with trouble concentrating, depression and chronic fatigue. Patients also report using Super Lemon Haze for migraines and headaches, and some say it helps with a poor appetite.

What are the effects of Lemon Haze?

This strain is known for its citrusy, lemony aroma and flavor. Here are some of the effects and traits most associated with Lemon Haze:
  1. Uplifting effects: Lemon Haze is usually considered a sativa, which means it tends to be more stimulating and energizing. Many users say it gives them a boost of energy, a lifted mood and a general feeling of happiness.
  2. Head high: this strain is known for an intense cerebral high. It can sharpen focus and creativity, which makes it a popular pick for art projects or anything that takes mental focus.
  3. Aroma and flavor: Lemon Haze stands out for its fresh lemon and citrus notes. Many users love its distinctive terpene profile, which comes across as refreshing and easygoing.
Keep in mind that weed hits everyone differently, and your experience will depend on things like dose, tolerance and personal sensitivity. Lemon Haze can also come with side effects like cottonmouth, red eyes and the munchies.

What kind of strain is Lemon Haze?

Lemon Haze is a cannabis strain defined by its citrusy, lemon-like aroma and flavor. It's known as a mostly sativa strain, so it tends to deliver more stimulating, energizing effects. Its exact genetics can vary depending on the breeder or seed bank, but it's generally a cross of strains like Lemon Skunk and Silver Haze. Lemon Haze got popular thanks to its intense head high, which can sharpen focus, spark creativity and bring on a happy, euphoric feeling. On top of that, its signature fresh-lemon aroma and flavor make it a no-brainer for anyone who loves citrus strains. Heads up: there are several versions of Lemon Haze on the market, since different breeders have crossed different genetics to put out their own take on the strain.
Haze strains are some of the most popular sativa-dominant (or nearly pure sativa) hybrids out there, and smokers all over the world love Haze weed for its energetic, long-lasting head high. They're also prized for their killer aromas, which usually mix intense spicy notes with fruity, sweet and earthy undertones. Nobody knows Haze's exact genetics, and there's plenty of speculation. When the Haze Brothers started experimenting, thousands of different strains were pouring into the United States, so the first Hazes may have been crosses of Colombian Gold and Thai landraces. Others say its roots trace back to Acapulco Gold and Indian landraces, or maybe some mix of all of them.

What is Amnesia Haze?

Amnesia Haze is famous for its powerful high, top-shelf flavor and seriously impressive harvests. It doesn't take much to get you very high, thanks to THC levels around 22%. Its insane trichome production makes Amnesia Haze a great pick for hash and other concentrates. Heat and press it and you can plainly see its clear, sticky, honey-colored resin, and the aroma that comes off it is something else. It's not just a head high, either: it's deeply relaxing too, which makes it a really well-balanced strain.
