What does a weed cake feel like? Edible effects explained
The effects of a weed cake depend on several things, like how much cannabis you used and which strain, plus your tolerance and personal sensitivity. When you eat cannabis in a cake or any other edible, the effects can feel different and stronger than when you smoke or vape. Here's an overview of what you might experience:
- Delayed onset: Unlike smoking weed, which kicks in fast, edibles like weed cake take longer to hit. It can take anywhere from 30 minutes to 2 hours to feel anything, because the cannabis has to go through your digestive system before it reaches your bloodstream.
- Psychoactive effects: The cannabis in the cake can be psychoactive, changing your perception, mood and thinking. You might feel euphoric, relaxed or even notice shifts in how you perceive time and space.
- Longer-lasting high: Edibles tend to last longer than smoking. You can feel the effects for several hours, and in some cases up to 8 hours or more.
- Stronger effects: Edibles generally hit harder and last longer than smoking because of the way your body metabolizes THC.
- Body and mind effects: Beyond the head high, you may feel muscle relaxation, the munchies and a general sense of well-being. Some people also get sleepy or sedated.
- Tolerance and dosing: Keep your personal tolerance and the amount of cannabis in the recipe in mind. Starting low is the way to go, especially if you're new to edibles.
- Mood effects: Plenty of people have a great time, but some can feel anxious, paranoid or jittery, especially if they overdo it. Go easy and stay somewhere comfortable and safe.
