The Best Games to Play High, From Mario Kart to Medusa
Video games, movie rules and classic stoner party games to level up your next smoke session.
The best games to play high mix trippy video games like Tetris Effect, Mario Kart, GTA and Weedcraft Inc with classic stoner party games like Never Have I Ever, Medusa and movie smoking games. Smoking is a blast on its own, especially with a group of friends, but who says you can't make it even more fun?
As you probably know, nothing says modern life like firing up the PlayStation, the Wii or whatever console you've got and, if you can, sparking a joint. Downtime, fun, slower reflexes, heightened senses: the whole thing turns into an adventure. So here's our list of games to play high, solo or with your crew.
Weedcraft Inc (PC)
Weedcraft Inc is a strategy game built for PC. The idea is that you grow plants and crossbreed them to create new strains. You'll have to run your business, hire staff, deal with the competition and even the cops. Little by little, you'll be wheeling and dealing over everything tied to your grow.
You can choose to run a legal business in the US or go the illegal route and get into dealing (we always recommend keeping it legal). It's a pretty fun game built on the basics of just about every strategy game.
Depending on how your deals go, you'll unlock different options. When you talk to your employees, the cops or your rivals, you get to choose what to do or say, and those choices lead to different outcomes.

The movie smoking game
Another game for when you're high is built around a movie. One person, usually the host, picks a genre, anything from horror to rom-coms to action. Then they set the rules. For example, if it's horror, every time someone dies, everyone takes a hit. If it's a rom-com, you smoke every time two characters kiss. The options are endless.
Here's an example: put on the Friday the 13th series and take a hit every time:
- Jason shows up on screen
- One of the actors gets naked
- The creepy suspense music kicks in
- Someone screams (in the movie or in real life)
- A dead body shows up
- Someone says "Jason"
- Spoiler: nobody has ever made it through every movie…
Tetris Effect (Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PC, Xbox Series X|S)
Not everyone recommends gaming high, especially with a visual game like this one, packed with colors and sounds. But that's kind of the point, right?
The latest version is Tetris Effect, where the difficulty ramps up really slowly, the visuals are a trip, the soundtrack blends electronic music and jazz, and the progression system puts winning and losing on the back burner.
Medusa
In Greek mythology, looking at Medusa turned you to stone. In this stoner game it works the other way around: looking at another player gets you high. Everyone holds a joint and starts with their head down, staring at their feet. After a countdown, everyone looks up and stares wide-eyed at another player. If the person you're looking at is looking at someone else, you're safe. But if they're staring right back at you, yell "MEDUSA!" Both players have to light up their joint and take a hit. The game ends when everyone's joint is lit or everyone's too baked to keep going.
Never Have I Ever
As everyone knows, this one was made as a drinking game, but it adapts perfectly. That's how it became one of the go-to stoner games, a regular part of plenty of smoke sessions.
The deal is that everyone playing smokes weed, so if you don't want to smoke, sit this one out. The rules are dead simple: someone says "Never have I ever…" followed by something they've never done, and if you have done it, you take a hit.
It usually gets pretty spicy, but you can keep it more innocent. Or not.

Mario Kart
If there's one thing you have to hand to Nintendo, it's that they know how to make fun party games. And even though it's a kids' game, people have turned it into a stoner staple. Everyone goes all out to finish first, but in this version there's a bonus: whoever wins gets a bong rip, and whoever loses doesn't.
Grand Theft Auto
GTA might be the most exciting game of all time, and it's also one of the best ways to chill and get high with friends.
On top of all the ways you can build up your character, you can start your own weed empire and slowly grow it into a powerful business. The game is a blast even when you're sober. And while you play, you can turn it into a mini-game: take a hit every time someone gets run over. You'll thank us later.
Call of Duty
The first-person shooter view puts you right on the front lines of the battlefield, and you'll feel every shot like the bullet went straight through you.
You might think gaming high on a shooter sounds ridiculous, but trust us, it'll surprise you: it puts your coordination, aim and maneuvering to the test. The real fun starts when you switch to multiplayer to liven things up. Just to keep it fair, though, everyone should smoke a fat joint first.
Those are some of our favorite games to play when you're high. There are plenty more out there to keep you entertained.
