Cannabutter
Making cannabutter might sound like something only experts can pull off, but trust us, it isn't. It's simple and you can do it at home.
The best part about cannabutter is that you can use it in tons of dishes once you start cooking with cannabis.
You'll need 1 pound (about 450 g) of butter, margarine or whatever fat you cook with, and 1/2 ounce (about 14 g) of ground cannabis. Melt the butter in a pan and add the weed. Let it cook over low heat until the butter turns green from the herb. Strain it through a sieve and chill it in the fridge. That's it: your own personal cannabutter, ready for whatever you want to cook, sweet or savory. The sky's the limit.
Pot brownies
We've all heard of these legendary desserts, and for anyone who loves chocolate and weed, they're the base recipe everyone should try.
The easiest way to make them is to grab a box of brownie mix from your favorite brand. Obviously, you'll also need some herb. For these crazy brownies, we recommend 4 to 18 grams of weed.
Next, heat the amount of oil the box calls for and add the weed to the pan. Let the oil and herb cook over low to medium heat for about 30 minutes.
Then strain out the plant material and add the oil to the brownie mix. Follow the instructions on the box and you'll end up with some delicious pot brownies.
Cannabis oil
There are a lot of recipes out there for cannabis oil, but here's an easy one: it takes almost no work, just a bit of patience and good-quality weed.
So how do you make cannabis oil? Here's the step-by-step:
- Rinse the weed in hot water to clean it. To decarb it properly (activate the THC or CBD), bake it in the oven first.
- Get a glass container big enough for the amount of oil you're going to make.
- Pour in your favorite extra virgin olive oil, or one you think will pair especially well with the weed you picked. Remember it can be high in CBD, high in THC or both.
- Add about 20-25 grams of dried, cured, unground weed.
- Let it steep in a dark, dry place for a couple of weeks, stirring now and then so the plant releases its compounds.
- Once that time is up, it's ready to use.
- Don't take the weed out of the glass container.
- If the mix turns out too strong, pour it into a new glass container and add another quarter of extra virgin olive oil to mellow it out. Shake it hard and let it rest in the dark for a couple of days so it settles.
- Your cannabis oil is now ready to use under the tongue, on the skin or as a food supplement.
